Were scrapped battleships fully recycled, or do their remains still survive on land?
Short answerMost material was reused, but portions of some ships survived by being incorporated into wharves, foundations, and other infrastructure.
NotesTreaty disposal usually sent recoverable steel, machinery, and fittings back into industrial use rather than leaving whole ships in dumps. Some structural remains nevertheless became part of waterfront construction and can still exist beneath car parks, wharves, or harbor works.
