Why a surviving Repulse would not immediately receive American 5-inch guns

Would the United States want Repulse sent for a 5-inch gun refit if she survived Force Z?

An immediate refit would remove a needed capital ship from service for months, making it unattractive until replacement ships became available.

Repulse would first have to cross the Pacific, potentially continuing to the American Atlantic coast if that was where dock capacity could be found. Replacing her guns would also require reworking the magazines. Transit and conversion would keep her out of service for months when her presence in Southeast Asia mattered. Such work is therefore considered unlikely until more King George V-class ships could replace her in service.
