Remote operation simplifies crew protection and placement

Cooling, electrical supply, CIC control, and maintenance access show why the OTO 76 can be integrated into varied ship designs without a crew inside the turret.

Notes

The mount uses seawater cooling followed by fresh-water flushing, and its electrical demands are presented as practical for ship integration. Operators control the weapon remotely from the combat information center rather than sitting inside the turret. That arrangement keeps the gun crew in a more protected position during an engagement. It also gives designers more freedom because the installation needs access for maintenance, not space for people to operate the weapon locally.
