Carrier lifts, sortie rate, and weather limits

A hypothetical carrier's lift arrangement trades sortie generation against weather limits on moving aircraft.

Notes

The imagined Red Fleet carrier replaces an earlier experimental ship's centerline-and-deck-edge lift arrangement with two deck-edge lifts. It retains three catapults. Centerline lifts are criticized for reducing sortie rate. Their use can nevertheless allow aircraft operations in weather that limits other arrangements before compensating systems are developed.
