For the ship to retain battleship status and a distinctive bombardment role, it would need at least two twin 12-inch railgun turrets mounted forward. Railgun practicality remains limited by metallurgy, rails, munitions, and repeated firing, so the concept depends on technical advances rather than an available weapon. Gas guns are a less potent fallback, while the very long ranges claimed for larger railguns remain a future possibility. VLS groups would be distributed through the hull, with the superstructure and sensitive radars moved aft to escape gun shock and blast. High-powered sensors, lasers, guns, missiles, and electronic warfare would provide offensive reach and layered self-defense.
