How the Fury differed from a simplified Tempest

Was the Hawker Fury simply a simplified Tempest, with the Sea Fury as its naval version?

The starting point was a lighter Tempest with shortened wings, but the Sea Fury passed through enough further changes to become quite different from that initial concept.

The Fury began with a change to the Tempest's wing arrangement. Calling it merely a simplified Tempest misses that specific starting point. The naval version then evolved through many changes, so the completed Sea Fury no longer closely resembled the initial lightened-Tempest concept.
