Containerized missiles need stability, power, and practice

A longer container-defence answer turns an attractive launcher concept into a real fleet-integration problem.

Question

Could container ships simply carry more containerized missile defences?

Short answer

Stability, placement, power, sensors, cargo capacity, crews, and repeated practice all constrain the idea before a convoy can depend on it.

Notes

Weapon containers must sit low enough to limit ship motion, yet their placement can displace normal cargo and complicate loading. They also need fire control, data links, electrical power, trained crews, and rehearsed installation. A linked escort may be many miles away and moving within the formation, so the sensor and command network must be designed and tested for that geometry. A system that exists on paper is not automatically a credible convoy defence. The Royal Navy's interwar habit of testing ideas in repeated exercises provides the comparison.
