NotesNo detailed English-language work is identified that assembles Yonai's own reasoning. A Japanese publication compiled by his family from the admiral's papers may exist, although its print run and availability are uncertain. The family reportedly still holds further papers that could illuminate his decisions. Colorful stories about Yonai are plentiful, but tracing them to accessible primary evidence remains difficult.
