The Providence class carries Vulture droid fighters, tri-fighters, bombers, and gunships, giving it a mixed air group of roughly 250 attack craft before the gunships are counted. Its armament combines heavy turbolasers with light point-defense ion cannon, flak weapons, heavy ion cannon, proton-torpedo launchers, and tractor beams. Four years of consumables give the ship strategic endurance rather than tying it immediately to a nearby base. A very large battle-droid complement also supports sustained planetary operations. Later droid fighters able to clamp onto the outer hull could expand the air group without consuming more internal hangar volume. The result is a coherent combined-arms platform in which aviation, endurance, troops, and defensive weapons support one another.
