Ninety aircraft had been completed by the Armistice and 232 by the end of production, principally by Blackburn with smaller batches from Fairfield and Pegler. Many machines went first to storage depots before trials at East Fortune and assignment to the torpedo-airplane school. Training in the Firth of Forth progressed to attacks against moving targets towed by destroyers. Cuckoos embarked in HMS Argus in November 1918, but the war ended before the type could enter combat.
