The simulation can lengthen barrels, automate loading and improve fire control, but it cannot reproduce every plausible modern mounting. Advanced technology might raise a large gun to roughly 55 degrees, while elevations near 85 degrees would require an enormous turret and difficult loading geometry. A seagoing battleship has little reason to fire its main battery nearly vertically. At the close ranges implied by such a trajectory, direct fire would already carry enough energy to defeat much armour. Engineering capability alone does not create an operational requirement.

Why extreme battleship-gun elevation offers little value
Modern mechanisms might raise large-gun elevation to about 55 degrees, but steeper mountings would impose major turret and loading costs for little practical naval benefit.
