Autoloading turrets and emergency power

A question about auxiliary power shows how much machinery was already essential to large naval turrets.

Question

Would an autoloading turret need its own auxiliary power unit after a shipwide power failure?

Short answer

Large turrets already depended on powered rammers, hoists, and movement, so emergency power was already a relevant requirement.

Notes

Powered rammers, hoists, training, and elevation already made a capital-ship turret dependent on machinery. Capital-gun ammunition was too heavy for the loading and movement cycle to remain purely manual. Loss of electrical or hydraulic power was therefore already a turret-survivability problem. An autoloader extends that existing power requirement instead of introducing powered operation from scratch.
