Tiger Cubs displace Fisher's large light cruisers

An established 9.2-inch cruiser program weakens the case for Courageous, Glorious, and Furious and may reshape the Renown and R-class programs.

Notes

A victory at Coronel would provide the Royal Navy with a clear wartime narrative. It still would not save Prince Louis of Battenberg from the political campaign against him. Fisher would return to office without a persuasive need for his large light cruisers because the Tiger Cubs already supply fast Baltic-capable ships in quantity. Renown and Repulse might still win approval as 15-inch battlecruisers intended to meet Germany's next generation. Small-tube boilers could already have raised the Revenge class toward Queen Elizabeth speeds. If redesign interrupted construction, the remaining three R-class ships might instead become battlecruisers, adding Resistance to Renown and Repulse.
