In this fictional setting, Pokémon would become part of fleet organization and the capabilities available to a navy. Trainers would therefore have a military role. The design problem would be how Pokémon worked with existing weapons and ship systems, including whether some weapons were replaced altogether. Those arrangements remain open because they depend on the capabilities available in the setting.
