Plan against a capable enemy

Sound planning assumes an opponent is broadly equal, with strengths and weaknesses that may differ from one's own.

Notes

Dismissing Chinese products or any adversary's equipment as inherently poor creates a dangerous planning assumption. A realistic plan treats the enemy as advanced and capable as one's own force. The opponent may be stronger in some fields and weaker in others, with the differences balancing across the whole system. Planning around presumed inferiority can fail catastrophically if the assumption is wrong. Planning for parity at least preserves a fighting chance when the opponent proves superior in a particular area.
