Redeploying the Pacific fleet through Suez

If Italy entered after Japan's defeat, the main fleet could refit in the Indian Ocean and pass through Suez into the Mediterranean.

Notes

If Italy entered the war after Japan had been beaten, the main Allied fleet could refit in the Indian Ocean and pass through the Suez Canal. The fleet would then enter the Mediterranean against the Italian Navy. The early date also matters because some aircraft types commonly associated with 1940 were not yet in service. This branch depends on blockade and fleet defeat ending the Japanese war without a prolonged invasion. Control of Suez would connect the two theatres and let naval power shift quickly toward a new opponent. It remains one possible branch of the counterfactual rather than the expected main line.
