Chapter ยท 24:46-31:57

Building overlapping artillery fields of fire

Guns covering different approaches catch advancing pirate troops in overlapping fire, while fences and a wall provide protection.

Notes

The pirate assault begins with a question of where the enemy will emerge and whether trees will mask the guns. One battery goes behind a fence, while a second covers the opposite flank and the likely path of an opening massed charge. As the attackers spread out, they enter the other gun's field of fire and expose themselves to grapeshot and canister in open ground. An uncommitted unit becomes available to maneuver, and a wall provides protection. The gun positions cover different approaches while taking advantage of the available shelter.
