Chapter · 19:45-28:26

Ottoman geography makes the obvious expansion unavailable

Nearby Ottoman territory offers access beyond the Adriatic, but minor-power diplomacy blocks the campaign's preferred target and redirects tension toward Russia.

Notes

The campaign's most logical target is Ottoman territory adjoining Austro-Hungarian waters. Taking Gallipoli or nearby approaches would open routes beyond the Adriatic and reduce the risk that a narrow outlet could isolate the fleet. The proposed match-up pits Austro-Hungarian technology against Ottoman political division, but it remains a game strategy rather than a claim that war was inevitable. Minor-power rules prevent the chosen conflict, so tension rises with Russia instead. Geography, access, and diplomatic game rules pull the strategy in different directions.
