Operation Torch demonstrates what the Atlantic supply system could accomplish. A large convoy crossed from North America, joined another from Britain, and carried an assault force to North Africa. Axis forces did not know the operation existed while this movement was under way. The episode connects convoy defence with the ability to project an army across an ocean.
