Ian Daglish's account of Operation Epsom is recommended for its maps, photographs, and accessible writing. Epsom was one of the Allied armoured attacks that secured the Normandy lodgement. Battles made familiar by film often eclipse it, although this account argues that the operation helped deny the Germans a route to throw the Allies back out. Its treatment of specialist vehicles such as Churchill Crocodiles also gives readers a concrete way into the battle's tactical character.
