How the Revenge program could redistribute older dreadnoughts

A force-structure counterfactual shows how completing the Revenge class before the war might have released first-generation dreadnoughts to Dominion fleets.

Notes

The Revenge program formed part of a wider fleet renewal rather than a second-rate appendix to Queen Elizabeth. Had the ships entered service before the First World War, Dreadnought, Neptune, the Colossus class, the St Vincent class, and Bellerophon might have become available for transfer. Australia, Canada, India, South Africa, or New Zealand could then receive still-useful capital ships instead of Britain placing them in reserve. Even an older dreadnought would deter most regional cruisers and force an opponent to plan around a much heavier unit. The scenario connects new battleship construction to imperial force distribution, dockyard investment, and the later treaty problem of inherited fleets.
