Oil preheating and coal handling solve different fuel problems

A propulsion upgrade prompts a short distinction between preheating fuel oil and the ordinary movement of coal from bunker to boiler room.

Notes

A research result offers a fuel-oil preheater even though the current fleet remains coal fired. Liquid fuel may require preheating as part of its delivery and combustion system, whereas coal does not normally need an equivalent deliberate treatment. Coal can nevertheless warm as it moves from the bunker toward the boilers. Changing naval fuels affected boiler performance along with the storage, preparation, and handling systems around the machinery plant.
