The Norwegian Navy Road guide maps a historic transport route and the surviving sites along it. Small walking guides often explain exactly where events happened, while larger histories may assume that local geography is already familiar. Their detailed maps can supply the place context needed to interpret broader works. The guide also provides a route for later field research on foot or by train.
