After using Gorgon as a monitor, the Royal Navy offered her back to Norway. The widened hull was difficult to dry-dock and sustain, a real constraint that Britain may have been able to help resolve. Her armament included 9.2-inch and 6-inch guns plus several lighter anti-aircraft weapons. The bulges that caused the maintenance problem also made the ship unusually hard to sink with torpedoes or mines, which gives Nidaros her main advantage in the Narvik scenario.
