Nicholas Goodhart worked with the Yorkshire Gliding Club and aeronautical organizations as well as developing carrier landing aids. He finished 35th out of 350 entrants in the 1951 Monte Carlo Rally. At 88, he abseiled down Cullompton Church to raise money for a hospice in Exeter. He died in 2011.
