Nexans Skagerrak is designed around installing and repairing high-voltage underwater cables. It can carry about 7,000 tons of cable, has sixty single cabins for its crew, and provides an enclosed 3-by-15-meter area for cable joining. A-frames, cradles, turntables and other handling equipment support the cable work. Efficient installation reduces the time spent on an expensive project, while rapid repairs shorten outages that cost the cable operator money.
