Chapter · 22:24-29:17

A pro-British neutral Scandinavia and Swedish ore

A neutral Norway keeps Narvik open to Britain and puts Sweden in a stronger position to sell ore away from Germany.

Notes

In the neutral branch, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland might seek guarantees of neutrality, with Scandinavian forces potentially protecting Denmark and Iceland. Britain could buy Swedish iron ore through Narvik rather than seize it, using commercial pressure as a form of blockade. Narvik remains the ice-free outlet when the Baltic route freezes, making the Swedish railway strategically important throughout the year. Germany's invasion of Denmark and failed attack on Norway would give Sweden powerful reasons to prefer British purchasers while preserving the language of neutrality.
