The final proposal carried four triple 6-inch Mark 25 turrets and six twin 4.5-inch guns in Mark 6 mounts. Ten twin 40 mm Bofors positions, fourteen twin 20 mm Oerlikons, and four quadruple 21-inch torpedo mountings completed the ambitious battery, with possible torpedo reloads. County-class practice informed the belt, while full radar, communications, and flag facilities added weight and volume. The design targeted 33 knots and 7,500 nautical miles at 20 knots for distant service. Projected displacement reached about 15,600 tons standard and 19,000 tons deep load.
