The Navigatori class answered French contre-torpilleurs such as Jaguar and Guepard while trying to correct instability in earlier Italian designs. Six 4.7-inch guns in three twin mounts, six 21-inch torpedo tubes, and capacity for up to 104 mines gave the ships substantial offensive equipment. The gun mounts remained spread along the hull, limiting the concentration of fire that supported effective ranging salvos. Multiple rangefinder positions helped fire control, even though they did not remove that layout problem. Boiler and turbine rooms had as much separation as the hull allowed to reduce the chance of one hit disabling several machinery spaces. These changes improved the prospects of surviving damage while retaining much of the earlier torpedo-focused design.

Navigatori gunnery and machinery survivability
Navigatori combined a heavy mine and torpedo fit with multiple rangefinders and separated machinery spaces, while its gun layout still limited concentrated fire.
