What years does your expertise cover?
Short answerHis writing mainly covers the interwar period and the Second World War, while his research and teaching extend across a much broader range of naval history.
NotesAlex Clarke's PhD examined naval aviation in the 1920s and 1930s and why the Royal Navy acquired the Fleet Air Arm and carriers that it did. His undergraduate work covered aircraft-carrier design and the Falklands War, while his master's dissertation addressed the Falklands and sea basing for medium powers. Earlier study included the development of dreadnoughts. Teaching the Aspects of Naval History course at King's required much broader coverage, from ancient galley warfare to the invasion of the Al-Faw Peninsula. His main writing interests remain the interwar period and the Second World War.
