Drone motherships versus existing warships

Will naval drone motherships become the next major arms-race ship type?

Dedicated motherships are doubtful because many current warships already have flight decks, mission bays, carrier space, or modular payload options for operating drones.

Dedicated drone motherships are an unlikely next naval arms-race category because navies already operate or can adapt many ship types for uncrewed systems. ASW frigates, air-defense destroyers, carriers, LHDs, and mission-bay ships can host different drone roles without needing an entirely separate class.
