The Galaxy concept is compared with the modular ambitions of the Littoral Combat Ship and Danish frigate construction. The Iver Huitfeldt and Absalon classes are hulls designed to accept changing technology and mission packages. A larger fictional version of that approach could store incomplete hulls and fit them rapidly as explorers, carriers, or other wartime variants. Preparing more than thirteen adaptable hulls, with several ready for carrier conversion, would make better use of that flexibility. The comparison separates the value of modularity itself from the implementation problems of particular modern programmes.
