Where to start reading modern maritime strategy

What books would you recommend for studying modern maritime strategy?

Start with B. J. Armstrong's 21st-century series and consider Alessio Patalano's Maritime Strategy and Naval Innovation for a deeper, more expensive option.

Two routes lead into contemporary maritime strategy. B. J. Armstrong's 21st-century series provides one accessible line of study. Alessio Patalano's edited volume Maritime Strategy and Naval Innovation offers a more specialized collection. The latter is a serious but costly book, illustrating the price barrier attached to some current naval-strategy scholarship.
