The worked example starts with a Type 45 carrying 48 missiles. Three spare loadouts in addition to the embarked load produce roughly 200 missiles per ship, or about 1,200 across six ships. Even that reserve could disappear within a few weeks of heavy operations. Production therefore needs enough regular work to maintain skills and replenish stocks, together with capacity that can expand during war. One illustrative arrangement has three production lines, with one active in peacetime and two held in reserve. At an assumed 100 missiles a month per line, all three would provide roughly six destroyer loadouts per month.

Counting missile reserves in ship loadouts
A 48-cell destroyer illustrates why several spare loadouts and production capacity beyond peacetime demand are needed for a sustained campaign.
