Chapter · 45:53-47:53

Deployment options for a faster British battle line

A larger fast capital-ship force opens different choices for Mediterranean, Far Eastern, and Atlantic deployment.

Notes

With five or six ships, the Nelson squadron need not remain concentrated at home as a uniquely scarce asset. The discussion suggests a Mediterranean role, Queen Elizabeths as reinforcement for the Far East, and R-class ships in the Atlantic as later reinforcements. Renown, Repulse, and Hood would retain the mobile diplomatic and Atlantic duties of the battlecruiser squadron. Numbers and common speed create strategic flexibility before a battle is ever fought.
