When mature Helldivers and Avengers outperform their predecessors

Would a Helldiver and Avenger carrier group be better than Dauntlesses and Devastators?

Yes for mature designs; the reply explicitly qualifies the comparison because the early Helldiver needed extensive correction.

The scenario replaces Dauntlesses and Devastators with Helldivers and Avengers. The first response favors the newer generation. A participant immediately qualifies that answer by the extensive changes needed to correct the early Helldiver. The comparison is then explicitly settled on mature designs. The important assumption is which version of the aircraft is being supplied, rather than the later model name alone.
