Notes

A viewer asks whether the story of Manxman overhauling a US carrier group during the Suez Crisis is true. The answer is yes. No further operational detail is supplied, so the claim cannot support a more precise account of the episode. It remains a vivid illustration that Abdiel-class speed was not merely a trial figure and could surprise large contemporary formations.
