Lemnos confirms Greek control and drives Ottoman battleship orders

An Ottoman attempt to lure Averof away fails before Lemnos, leaving Greece in control of the sea and encouraging Istanbul to seek more powerful battleships.

Notes

Kountouriotis refuses to chase the raiding cruiser that was meant to pull his flagship out of position. When the Ottoman fleet emerges, it suffers another defeat and Greece retains the mobility benefits of sea control. Ottoman leaders respond by emphasizing heavier and more modern ships, including the vessel Britain later takes over as HMS Erin. Yet new hulls cannot substitute for the logistics, infrastructure, and training needed to sustain them. The aftermath turns procurement into an institutional critique: buying a dreadnought addressed the visible gunpower gap but not the support system that had helped produce defeat.
