Chapter · 10:56-12:35

Late construction and the class naming scheme

The first pair were laid down in December 1942, further ships followed in 1943, and only one hull is said to have been launched in 1944.

Notes

The first two destroyers were laid down on 14 December 1942, and further ships discussed were laid down in 1943. Only one is said to have been launched, in 1944, after being reported around 20 percent complete when Italy fell. The class took its collective name from people honoured with gold medals. This late construction schedule left no completed successor to the Soldati class.
