Choosing countries and representative ships for a later-era Total War

A possible later-era Total War raises choices about world-map scope, playable countries, and distinctive historical warships.

Notes

Dr. Clarke recalls a conference conversation with someone who appeared to work on Empire: Total War development. A game covering a later period would require decisions about which countries to include and how much of the world to represent. Distinctive units create another selection problem: a First World War setting could give the Royal Navy Warspite, Queen Elizabeth, or Dreadnought in a role comparable to Victory's. His preference was to include all three, with Renown and Hood added to the possibilities.
