Type 10 guns were useful weapons available in substantial numbers. Small escorts commonly drew their guns from existing stocks, making availability an important part of armament selection. HMCS Sackville's 4-inch gun provides the comparison. The surviving Flower-class corvette is at Halifax. Successive Japanese escort classes also needed to increase the number of ships available for service.
