Junon links peacetime training to expeditionary war

Junon's career runs from a peacetime training squadron and West African diplomacy to Sardinian landings, ammunition delivery at Acre, and British service as Princess Charlotte.

Notes

Junon served in an evolution squadron created to train crews and student officers during peacetime, part of France's effort to rebuild expertise after earlier religious purges. She later acted as a divisional flagship off West Africa, carried a French ambassador, and supported landings in Sardinia. After grounding near Aboukir and being repaired at Alexandria, she joined Perrée's force and carried artillery and ammunition to the army at Acre. Losing her removed training, diplomatic, transport, and combat capacity at once. Lord Keith later renamed the captured ship Princess Charlotte, linking her new identity to his flagship Queen Charlotte.
