Japan's wider contribution to the war

Japan's war role extended beyond Tsingtao to Singapore security, convoy work, and offers of wider Allied assistance.

Notes

Japan's contribution to the Allied coalition extended beyond its Pacific territorial gains. Japanese forces helped suppress the 1915 Singapore Mutiny and later deployed cruisers and destroyers for Mediterranean convoy duties. Japan also offered troops for the Western Front, although the Allies did not accept that proposal. Its entry into the war served both allies: Britain gained regional and convoy support, while Japan secured an opportunity to occupy former German Pacific territories.
