Chapter · 8:51-9:55

Rotate veteran Japanese pilots into training

A structured rotation would transfer combat experience from China into flight schools and newly formed squadrons before Japan's veteran pilot pool is depleted.

Notes

Experienced army and navy pilots from the fighting over China would periodically leave operational units to instruct at training schools. After an instructor tour, they would help form new squadrons so combat knowledge spreads beyond the original veteran units. Japan's non-commissioned pilot corps offers an additional path for widening the leadership pool. Successful NCO instructors could complete officer training before returning to operations, combining experience transfer with career advancement before wartime attrition depletes the cadre.
