Yugumo combined six 127 mm (5-inch) guns with two quadruple torpedo launchers and a complete set of reloads. That torpedo outfit allowed two full salvos in principle. A second salvo depended on surviving long enough to launch it. Depth-charge provision is judged inadequate for the ships' needs. These were useful ships, but Japan needed more of them.
