Could Italy secure enough oil to operate a much stronger fast-battleship fleet?
Short answerPossibly, but only if it recognized the logistical requirement and built fuel depots and strategic reserves before the war.
NotesTreaty tonnage and shipyard capacity do not automatically produce an operational fleet. Fast capital ships impose a large and continuing fuel demand. Britain responded to similar strategic exposure by investing in storage and supply infrastructure, and Italy could choose the same path. If it did not, the enlarged battle line would remain constrained by the same fuel shortages that limited historical operations.
