The Italian Horizon ships inherit the three-gun layout

The Italian Horizon design keeps the distinctive arrangement of two OTO Melara 76 mm mounts forward and a third above the hangar. It omits the 127 mm gun, then adds 25 mm weapons, torpedoes, and a 48-cell Sylver A50 battery for Aster missiles. The design also allows for 16 additional cells. Teseo anti-ship missiles carry the Otomat family into the newer class. Horizon uses a new combat system while preserving Durand de la Penne's layered gun layout.
