Could removing more of Ise's midships turrets have created a longer or angled flight deck?
Short answerYes in principle: removing the obstructing turrets could have opened much more deck area, and an angled path would use the diagonal of that space to increase available landing length.
NotesRemoving more midships turrets is a logical way to extract more aviation value from the hull. An angled path creates a longer usable run across a rectangular deck area. A later estimate gives roughly 140 meters of deck over about two-thirds of the ship, far more useful than the 70-meter installation actually fitted. This is a design counterfactual, not a claim that Japan possessed a completed angled-deck plan.
