Cruisers the Dominions could sustain

Cockatoo Island and Australia's historical battlecruiser illustrate the difference between what a Dominion could buy and what it could support locally.

Notes

Cockatoo Island is offered as a yard that could adapt to maintain the proposed cruisers and might even build them. These vessels would sit near the upper end of what the Dominions could support locally while retaining a clear cruiser role. Historically, Australia had the budget, will and need to acquire the battlecruiser HMAS Australia. The smaller cruiser would be easier to justify and sustain, opening the possibility of ships for Canada, South Africa, India and New Zealand as well. Wider participation would share the financial burden and increase the number of cruisers available to the empire.
