Indomitable repeatedly draws on American repair capacity

Bomb and torpedo damage send Indomitable back to American yards, which build experience working on unfamiliar British ships.

Notes

Indomitable crossed the Atlantic for repairs after being hit by 500-kilogram armor-piercing bombs. A later torpedo strike sent her back for another American yard period. Spare capacity made these repeated visits possible while British yards were heavily burdened and exposed. Each repair also gave American designers and workers more experience with Royal Navy standards and ship arrangements.
